Overview
QRCode (the "App") is published by Grade New Apps ("we", "us", "our"). We built the App to scan QR codes and barcodes quickly, without requiring an account or collecting more than we need to. This policy explains what information we — and the third-party services we use — collect when you use the App, how it's used, and the choices you have.
By downloading or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the App.
Information we collect
Information you provide directly. If you contact us — for example through the Contact page or by email — we collect whatever you choose to share, such as your name, email address, and the content of your message.
Information collected automatically. When you use the App, some technical information may be collected by us or by the third-party services listed under "Third-party services," including:
- Device information: device model, operating system and version, app version, and language/region settings.
- Diagnostic & log data: crash reports, error logs, and performance data, which may include your IP address and a general, city/country-level location derived from it.
- Advertising identifiers: your device's advertising ID may be collected by our ad partners — see "Third-party services" and "Advertising & your choices" below.
We don't require an account, and we don't collect your name, email, or other direct identifiers just for using the App's core scanning features.
How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- operate and maintain the App, and diagnose and fix bugs or crashes;
- understand how the App is used so we can improve it — for example, which screens get the most use;
- respond to your support requests and feedback;
- deliver and measure advertising, and where required, personalize ads to your interests; and
- comply with legal obligations and protect the rights, safety, and property of our users and ourselves.
Scan, Save & History (on-device)
The App's core features are built to keep your data on your device, not ours:
- Scan: decodes the content of a QR code or barcode locally. The decoded content itself is never sent to us — we don't operate a backend that stores your scans.
- Save: bookmarked results are stored in the App's local storage on your device only.
- History: every scan is automatically logged to local storage so you can revisit it — this history is never uploaded or shared.
You can delete this data at any time from within the App, by clearing the App's storage in your device settings, or by uninstalling the App.
Camera & permissions
Camera: used only to detect and decode QR codes and barcodes in real time. Camera frames are processed on-device and are never recorded, stored, or transmitted anywhere. If you use "scan from image," we read the picture you select from your gallery solely to decode it — we don't collect or store that image.
We only ask for permissions the App genuinely needs, and the App explains why before requesting one.
Third-party services
We use the services below to keep the App stable, understand usage, and support the App through advertising. Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy, linked below.
Google Analytics for Firebase
ActiveAnonymous usage statistics — such as screens viewed and session length — so we can see how the App is used and improve it.
View Google's privacy policy ↗Google Crashlytics
ActiveCrash and error reports — including device model, OS version, and app state at the time of a crash — so we can find and fix bugs.
View Firebase's privacy policy ↗Microsoft Clarity
ActiveAggregated interaction analytics (e.g. tap patterns, screen flow) to help us improve usability. Clarity never receives the content of what you scan.
View Microsoft's privacy statement ↗Google AdMob
ActiveServes ads in the App and collects your advertising ID, device information, and ad-interaction data for ad delivery, personalization, and fraud prevention.
View AdMob's data disclosure ↗Meta Audience Network (Facebook Ads)
ActiveCollects device and advertising identifiers to deliver and measure ads shown in the App.
View Meta's privacy policy ↗InMobi Ads
ActiveCollects device and advertising identifiers to deliver and measure ads shown in the App.
View InMobi's privacy policy ↗None of the services above receive the content of your scans, saved items, or history — that stays on your device as described in "Scan, Save & History" above.
Advertising & your choices
You can limit ad personalization at any time:
- Android: go to Settings → Google → Ads, then turn on "Opt out of Ads Personalization," or reset your advertising ID at any time.
- You can also decline any consent prompt the App shows you — you'll still see ads, just less tailored to you.
How we share your information
We don't sell your personal information. We share it only:
- with the service providers listed above, to the extent needed for them to do their job (analytics, crash reporting, or advertising);
- if required by law, such as to comply with a court order or government request;
- to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users, ourselves, or others; or
- as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — in which case we'd notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Links to other content
Some scanned QR codes or barcodes may contain links to external websites. If you choose to open one, that site's own privacy policy and terms apply — we don't control, and aren't responsible for, any third-party website you reach through a scan.
Data retention
On-device data (scans, saved items, history) stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App — we don't keep a copy. Data processed by our third-party providers (analytics, crash reports, and advertising) is retained according to each provider's own retention policy, linked above, and generally kept only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected for.
Data security
We rely on reputable providers — including Google, Microsoft, Meta, and InMobi — who maintain industry-standard technical and organizational safeguards. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so while we work to protect your information, we can't guarantee its absolute security.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access a copy of the personal information we or our providers hold about you;
- correct inaccurate information;
- request deletion of your information;
- object to, or ask us to restrict, certain processing; and
- withdraw any consent you've given — for example, for ad personalization — at any time.
To exercise any of these, email us at tavlune4@gmail.com. Because most of your data (scans, saves, history) lives only on your device, you can also act on most of these rights directly — just delete that data in the App or your device settings.
Children's privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
International data transfers
Our service providers (including Google, Microsoft, Meta, and InMobi) may process data on servers located outside your country, including in the United States. These providers maintain their own safeguards for cross-border data transfers, described in their respective privacy policies linked above.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the App evolves — for example, when new features like custom QR code creation are added. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to check back periodically.
